Mission statement

For many years, it seems that the world has become more interconnected by internet, social media and travel.  At the same time, we've been drawn further apart.  Social media contacts have replaced real friends.  Likes and shares have replaced handshakes and hugs.  With the onset of the COVID pandemic, this situation went from bad to worse.  Quarantines, social distancing and working-from-home has led some people to a situation where they might go days (or longer) without touching another human.

A phenomenon called "touch starvation", where someone starts to suffer negative consequences to their life because of lack of human touch, has become more and more prevalent.  When we are chronically lacking human contact, we become physiologically affected.  Cortisol (a stress hormone) levels go up, and oxytocin (the connection hormone) levels go down.  This dysregulation of stress and comfort hormones can lead to a variety of chronic physical issues from sleep dysfunction to heart disease.

My mission with 42Therapies is to help increase the level of positive, safe physical touch.  Through this touch therapy, I hope to:

  • help increase body awareness, positivity and acceptance
  • help decrease cortisol levels and increase oxytocin levels
  • help clients manage chronic stress, anxiety and sleep dysfunction
  • help clients find relief from aches, pains and muscle soreness
  • help clients feel centered and present by providing a calm, safe and tranquil environment

I hope to help.
